Little Pasture Trekking Centre Client Acknowledgement of Risk
In consideration of the services of Little Pasture Trekking Centre and its owners/employees/volunteers and all other persons associated with Little Pasture Trekking Centre (hereinafter referred to as LPTC).
Although LPTC has taken all reasonable steps to provide me with an appropriate horse/pony/equipment so I can enjoy an activity for which I may not be skilled, LPTC wishes to remind me that horse riding is a high-risk sport and that the activities at LPTC are not without risk. Certain risks cannot be eliminated without destroying the unique character of this activity. The same elements that contribute to the unique character of this activity can be causes of loss or damage to my equipment or property, or accidental injury, illness, or in extreme cases permanent trauma or death. I understand it is for me to know in advance what to expect and be informed in the inherent risks. The following describes some, but not all, of those risks:
- Horse related activities – injury can occur by having a horse/pony step on me, bite me, fall on me, or kick me. I may also be injured if I fall from, or become thrown from a horse/pony’s back;
- I may experience adverse weather conditions including snow, hail, sleet, rain, lightning, heat or wind. Because of these conditions, I may suffer from certain conditions arising from those mentioned;
- I am aware that outdoor and riding stable activities entail risks of injury or death to myself. I understand the description of these risks is not complete and that other unknown or unanticipated risks may result in injury or death. I agree to assume responsibility for the risks identified herein and those risks not specifically identified;
My participation in this activity is purely voluntary, no one is forcing me to participate, and I elect to participate in spite of the risks. I understand there are prerequisites to participate in any LPTC activities. I certify that there are no undisclosed physical or mental conditions which would preclude or limit my participation in these activities.
Safety Advice
It is strongly advised that all riders have and wear their own riding hat, which conforms to the current British standard and that their hat must be worn at all times. LPTC cannot be held responsible for any riding hat or equipment borrowed from LPTC or for anyone using LPTC horses, ponies or facilities. Back protectors are strongly advised to be worn at all times when mounted and should conform to the current British standard. Footwear should be either long riding boots or jodhpur boots (trainers or pumps are not suitable). Please note that in the unfortunate event of an accident LPTC’s current public liability insurance will not come into effect if the client concerned is not wearing an up to date British standard riding hat.
